To celebrate the release of Season 2 of Peacemaker on August 21st, HBO held an epic week long party at San Diego Comic Con.
From Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th, fans could enter Nova club in downtown San Diego to be fully immersed in the Peacemaker world. Entering via the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, guests were treated to immersive experiences, free drinks and exclusive swag.

Our first stop was the Hero Test Photo Booth which let you know which superhero type you were as well as giving you a free photo. The photo ops didn’t stop there as fans could snap pictures with items from the show, as well as the Peacecycle vehicle from season 2. Making the photos better was that every attendee was given a Peacemaker mask to really immerse themselves in the character.

Fans could also test their competitive side at the Economos’ Ops Mortal Kombat gaming station.

The most exclusive and exciting experience was, however, getting to meet Eagly, Peacemaker’s sidekick. Fans were stunned when they got the chance to interact with a real eagle, on loan from an animal sanctuary. This opportunity was limited to only the most lucky fans.

Drinks were served at Harcourt’s Knockout bar with free beer and a variety of Hard Tea Flavours. Our personal favourite was the peach.

Once fans had a chance to explore, the lights dimmed and they were treated to a rock concert with varying bands throughout the week. Guests who rocked out hard enough were given an invite to an exclusive party on the Saturday 26th.

For the party, HBO made sure fans were decked out in the correct attire as not only did they give out Peacekeeper masks again, they also gave out t-shirts and bandanas. Appetisers including meatballs and crab cakes were served, and guests were treated to an open bar. Every detail was thought out and it’s clear that HBO and everyone involved with the show really wanted to give fans the best possible experience. James Gunn himself even attended and introduced the live music for the night, two bands featured in the show, Foxy Shazam and Steel Panther.

The live music really was the highlight of the whole experience, fully immersing fans into the glam rock era. There was also a fantastic tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away last week, from Steel Panther.

Whether fans attended one of the day sessions, or the party on Saturday night, they were given an excellent party experience at Peacefest that really captured the spirit of the show. With Peacefest this year and The Penguin’s Iceberg Lounge last year, HBO are marking themselves as the standout for immersive experiences at SDCC. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next year.
