10 TV Shows To Watch In May 2025

April was a very exciting month for television fans being treated to new series like Pulse and The Stolen Girls, returning shows The Last of Us, Andor and Hacks, and final seasons of You, and The Handmaid’s Tale. May looks to be just as entertaining with both returning and new shows across a wide of genres including comedy, sci-fi, drama and gameshows. Here are our most anticipated shows for the month ahead.

The Four Seasons

Why to watch: The series follows three married couples who are tested when one of the couples divorce, complicating their tradition of quarterly weekend getaways. With Tina Fey producing and starring, this show is going to have a lot of laughs as well as great writing, something that the trailer already showcases. And with the rest of the cast including recently Oscar nominated Colman Domingo, Steve Carell, and Kerri Kenney-Silver, the performances and chemistry are sure to be top notch.

Poker Face

Why to watch: Season 1 followed casino worker Charlie who has an innate ability to detect lies as she travels round the US solving mysteries whilst on the run from a casino boss. When the show debuted, it received widespread critical acclaim with lead actress Natasha Lyonne receiving an Emmy nomination. It had the perfect balance of comedy, mystery and drama, and with Rian Johnson at the helm it was easy to see why. Season 2 promises even more laughs and mysteries, and it will be exciting to see what it delivers in its sophomore year.

Forever

Why to watch: Based on the novel by Judy Blume, Forever follows a young couple trying to navigate their relationship whilst also exploring their own identities. The love story promises to be both sweet and emotional, and Judy Blume is directly involved so you know it will be a well done adaptation. From the trailer, it feels like this will be a great watch for both longtime fans of the book as well as those who haven’t read it.

The Walking Dead: Dead City

Why to watch: In season 1, the spinoff focused on Negan trying to make amends for his past actions by helping Maggie rescue her son. While her son was rescued, Negan had to stay behind. With Negan focusing on his own survival now, there’s potential for his bad side to come out, especially with the reintroduction of Lucille, which will be interesting to see play out in season 2. From the trailer, it looks as if there will be all the action and thrill that Walking Dead fans love. And as always, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan seem to be relishing their roles which is what makes their characters and the show so fantastic.

Murderbot

Why to watch: Murderbot follows a security robot who gains free will. To stay hidden, it joins a mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet even though it just wants to binge watch tv shows. Whilst robots going rogue has been done before, this story feels fresh because of the comedic spin on it. The trailer already has lots of laughs, and Alexander Skarsgard seems perfect as the lead role. This isn’t just one of the most exciting shows of May, it’s one of the most exciting shows of the year.

Big Mouth

Why to watch: Since 2017, Big Mouth has been entertaining audiences with the journey of a group of teenagers as they navigate their way through puberty. It’s a quintessential coming of age story that is honest, eccentric and most importantly outrageously funny. But all good things must come to an end and the upcoming 8th season will be Big Mouth’s last. It’s bittersweet but satisfying that it’s getting a proper finish and it will be interesting to see where these characters end up.

Duster

Why to watch: Set in the 70s, Duster will follow the FBI’s first black female agent who pairs up with a talented getaway driver to take down a crime syndicate. The show is the brainchild of LaToya Morgan and J.J. Abrams who between them have written and produced some of the best television shows of the past 20 years so Duster is obviously in very good hands. Throw in Josh Holloway (we’re here for the Josh/J.J. Lost reunion) as the charismatic driver and you’ve got the potential for a very compelling series.

Where to watch: Max

When to  watch: May 15th

Taskmaster

Why to watch: Over the years, Taskmaster has established itself as one of, if not the, best comedy game shows on television. Each season, five celebrities (mainly comedians), complete in a bizarre set of challenges in order to score points. This season, American comedian Jason Mantzoukas is competing which will undoubtedly heighten the hilarity to the max. Taskmaster is unlike any other show and its absurdity and uniqueness is its charm.

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld

Why to watch: The show will explore the galaxy’s dangerous criminal underworld through the experiences of two iconic villains. Being completely honest, we’ll watch anything Star Wars related so we were sold as soon as this was announced. But the focus on the darker side of the Star Wars has us really intrigued and we love that these characters are getting the spotlight. Plus, with a May 4th release date, it’s the perfect way to celebrate Star Wars Day!

The Librarians: The Next Chapter

Why to watch: We’ve missed the adventures of The Librarians so we’re excited that it’s getting a follow up exploring the journey of a time-travelling librarian from the past that gets stuck in the present. A combo of old and new, it will share continuity with its predecessor and the film series but promises fresh new storytelling. And with Christian Kane set to guest star, fans are sure to be pleased.
