Argylle Is Pure Chaos and I Love it

This may be the most Matthew Vaughn film I have ever seen. Within thirty minutes of screen the plot had somersaulted and back flipped over the shark and I was down for it.

If you have not seen the film the plot is as follows:

“Elly Conway, an introverted spy novelist who seldom leaves her home, is drawn into the real world of espionage when the plots of her books get a little too close to the activities of a sinister underground syndicate. When Aiden, a spy, shows up to save her (he says) from being kidnapped or killed (or both), Elly and her beloved cat Alfie are plunged into a covert world where nothing, and no one, is what it seems.”

First off the cast is tremendous. Bryce Dallas Howard is just so wholesome and loveable, I won’t lie if she wanted me to come hang out at her lake side house and read books as we spoiled her cat, i would totally be there.

Though as much as I adored Bryce, no one can ever top Sam Rockwell. As always he is funny, charming, charismatic and as always dancing, because as we all know Sam Rockwell loves to dance and we are here for it.

Then we have Elly’s fictional spy Argylle played by the perfectly cast Henry Cavill. Henry knew the assignment and he nailed it, his Argylle is more ridiculous than Rodger Moores Bond and more handsome than any other Bond too. And he is clearly enjoying himself in this role.

I don’t want to say much more about the cast because I don’t want to spoil anything but Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Sofia Boutella, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson were all fantastic in it.

Next up I’d need to mention the style, because this film oozes style, mix that with the cinematography and some fun set pieces and you have the perfect Matthew Vaughn film.

My only issue is that there was a lot of Apple product placement in the film, but I’m feeling this is because Apple produced the movie, but I won’t judge them too much for that.

As with many other Matthew Vaughn movies this one has a fantastic soundtrack:

Firstly you have an original song titled Electric Energy  written for the film and performed by Ariana DeBose alongside Boy George and Nile Rodgers. But it also has Beatles, David Bowie and the most mental use of Leona Lewis beautiful cover of Run by Snow Patrol.

So in short, it’s a silly but fun movie and at least it’s something different. So give it a watch.

P.S there is a really cute cat in it
