The Cast of Baldurs Gate 3 Dazzle at MCM

As convention panels go this one was an utter delight. It is no secret that Baldurs Gate Three has been one of this year’s most successful games and MCM are spoiling the fans by having a plethora of voice talent from BG3 here for the weekend.

They have Amelia Tyler (Narrator), Neil Newbon (Astarion), Jennifer English (Shadowheart), Devora Wilde (Lae’zel), Theo Solomon (Wyll), Tim Downie (Gale), Samantha Beart (Karlach), Tracy Wiles (Jaheira), Dave Jones ( Halsin) and Emma Gregory ( Nightwarden Minthara). How is that for a bloody line up?

I may have been stuck seated at the back, but honestly the atmosphere was so good there are few places on planet earth I’d rather have been.

The panel was very enlightening not only did we get a peak into the personal lives of the cast but we found out who among them played Dungeons and Dragons.

The cast would go into some depth about how intimacy coordinators were on hand to coach them on the sex scenes. And yes this was literally one of the first topics that came up. Samantha Beart would mention that consent played a major role in how the scenes were developed.

And on the topic of Samantha, they spoke of how they put a lot of themselves into Karlach, especially since they identify as non-binary and appreciate how Karlach is both the toughest one in the room and a bit of a girly-girl. And that Karlach is a dream role for gender representation.

Meanwhile Jennifer English talked about how emotionally draining it was to be shadowheart and that on some days she needed a good cry.

Though a particular highlight for me was hearing confirmation from Neil Newbon that his character Astarion would be a terrible father, but I think most of us knew that.

It was a wonderful panel and one that was full of love. I’m really glad that I just about got into this one.

This was definitely one for the fans.
