RIP Sinead O’Connor

The music world lost one of its great talents today with the passing of Sinéad O’Connor. She was a truly gifted artist and I know that kind of phrase gets banded around a lot but Sinéad really was something special.

I had the great pleasure of seeing her perform back in the 2000’s and she had a wonderful stage presence. Unfortunately her life was filled with a lot of pain and she forged that into her music. Music that could both lift you up and carry you down.

But besides the music she led a life of faith, 1999, she was ordained as a priest by the Latin Tridentine Church, and in 2018 she took on the Islamic and she changed it to Shuhada’ Sadaqat. As someone from Ireland faith can easily define you but she placed it hand in hand with her music.

And not just her music. She stood for things, unlike many people she used her platform to make a statement.

This was a woman who would not be told when to shut up, someone willing to stand up and fight. Someone who was effortlessly a complete legend. Rest in peace Sinead the world won’t know the likes of you again and you will be missed.
