I don’t know what I expected from the Dune trailer but it definitely wasn’t anything this epic. Dune Part 2 has no right to go this hard and I am here for it.
That line right at the start where Paul points out that as long as the Fremen have been fighting the Harkonen, his people have been fighting them longer, that gave me chills.

In the original books the Fremen were based on the Bedouin people’s, here seeing them use a missile launcher I cannot help but see them to be more like middle Eastern insurgents, which is a nice way to modernize the Fremen.

Part Two will see Paul earn respect among the Fremen. And as with Part 1 there is going to be some stunning visuals and gorgeous use of colour.

Fans of the book will not be shocked by this, but I do wish they had kept the reveal out of the trailer. Still it’s great to see Josh Brolin back.

This looks like it is Paul’s first time riding a Sand Worm, an important part in the book and again something that really should not be shown.

If I’m right this is the moment Paul’s little sister becomes corrupted in the womb.

And we just got our first look at Christopher Walken as the Emperor. It looks like he is going to bring a lot to the role.

Fans of the book will recognise this as a very one sided gladiatorial match. Because House Harkonen never fights fair.

The trailer is teasing a showdown between Gurney Halleck and the Beast, but it could be some clever editing. They do have some history but the first film did not touch on it so I’m unsure if the second will.

The fact that this shot mirrors Paul’s dream from the first film cannot be a coincidence.

What follows is a series of shots that set up an epic romance, a terrifying war and a desert movie as stunning as Lawrence of Arabia.
I simply cannot wait to see this one.
