NASU: SUMMER IN ANDALUSIA

“Acclaimed anime film about pro-cycling arrives for first time on English friendly home media; includes limited edition slipcover.”

So, what’s this film about?

The film follows Pepe Benengeli, he is  competing as a second-string racer for a third-rate sponsor. Never the less Pepe has a drive to compete and win. But all this comes to a head when his former girlfriend, Carmens wedding, to his elder brother, Ángel, coincides on the same day of the penultimate stage of his big bicycle race.

For a film that’s 22 years old, this one has aged exceptionally well. And that is down to the care and love that director Kitarō Kōsaka, a long-time collaborator of Studio Ghibli, put into it.

So what makes this film so special?

Well, not only was this a critical success in Japan, but Nasu: Summer in Andalusia is the first anime feature film to ever compete in the Cannes Film Festival.

Nasu: Summer in Andalusia Blu-Ray Features:

Anime distributor AnimEigo and parent company MediaOCD have announced the home media Blu-ray release of Nasu: Summer in Andalusia on March 11th.
