The Venom movies are not terrible. They are fun, and had they come put two decades ago, we would be hailing them as pioneers. But unfortunately, they came too late and have always just missed out on the chance to be spectacular. Personally, I blame Sony for this, and I think plenty of people would agree.

This new Venom film feels like it’s trying to do something unique and special with the character. It has me optimistic that this might be the best in the trilogy.
