Lisa Frankenstien is the wonderful creation from the awesome triumvirate of the always fabulous Diablo Cody, the wonderfully talented Zelda Williams and the utterly charming Kathryn Newton. All three are definitely the kind of women who march to the beat of their own drum. And that uniqueness just bleeds into this quirky zombie flick.

Lisa Swallows is not your typical high-school girl. She is new in town, dislikes her stepmother, has an unhealthy obsession with the macabre, and she is still recovering from the untimely death of her mother.
Despite the well-meaning help from her stepsister, she struggles to fit in. While being ostracised and abused by the world around her. All that changes when she meets a zombie who might just be the only person “alive” that truly understands her.

I’m an odd guy, and I have some wonderful and weird friends. We like unusual stories, and as soon as I watched Lisa Frankenstien, I instantly knew I needed to show this to my nearest and dearest. This is a film that not only will make everyone laugh, but it will resonate perfectly with the outcasts of the world.
Getting into the movie, Kathryn Newton is such an onscreen sweet heart that I still cheered her on even as she racked up those kills. And her chemistry with Cole Sprouse, who played “The Creature” was on point. The two were just fun to watch.

Speaking of fun to watch, this whole movie was fun from start to finish, even when it dealt with heavier topics, it was still fun. Mix that with a heavy 1980s aesthetic that gave me hints of classics like The Burbs and Edward Scissor Hands, and a soundtrack that is to die for and I guarantee this is going to be one of 2024,s most underrated films.
If you are a hopeless romantic who doesn’t judge a book by its cover but loves a bit of revenge this one’s for you.
