Mozart in the Jungle (2014) Amazon Pilot Review

Amazon Studios have churned out yet another wonderful piece of television with Mozart in the Jungle. The show promises:  sex, drugs and symphony which is  an alluring, cultured and fun mix. After watching the pilot I was anything but disappointed. The story was inspired by Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Musicoboist Blair Tindall’s 2005 memoir of her professional career in New York, playing various high-profile gigs with ensembles including the New York Philharmonic and the orchestras of numerous Broadway shows.

This is the not so classic comedy as it takes us into the lives of another sub culture. A culture that most people would consider nerdy and boring, but it’s anything but. With Classical music themed drinking games, a sexually liberal off the wall conductor, good solid cast and of course Malcolm McDowell, this pilot packs a lot into its half hour slot.

If you’re looking to broaden your horizons or like myself, a fan of classical music this show is  a great way to bring it to you and a wider audience by mixing it in with everyday life. This one will surprise you, it even managed to teach me a few interesting facts. Reading the original premise I wont lie I did roll my eyes but I am thankful I ended up watching the pilot which shows that the series has a lot of potential.
